2021-2022 Mainstage Season:
A bold intellectual French comedy. Join us as three best friends discover the power of art, money, and pride when one of these friends decides to buy an extremely expensive painting. An all white painting with three white lines on it. The long-time friends discover there’s much more at play here than a mere difference of taste. What begins as a quarrel over artistic merit devolves into a heated appraisal of their friendship itself, and the three experience how easily a simple disagreement can turn personal. Winner of Olivier Award, New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, and Tony Award for Best Play.
A room of strangers gather around a table to decide the fate of a human life. It may sound dystopian but it is the reality of jury rooms across the world every day. It is the reality of how the system that we live in decides who lives and who dies. Is this democracy? Fate, justice, racism, and the brutal reality of our legal system take center stage as we dive into a heated argument where logic, emotions, and animal instincts come head to head. We are excited to present this classic American drama.
Every year around the world, the theatre community holds a long standing tradition of “Fringe Festivals”. Places where you can go and watch several short pieces of exciting, avant-garde, and boundary pushing theatre in a short amount of time. At these festivals “the new” take center stage. We are excited to announce the first ever “NILES WEST THEATRE FRINGE FESTIVAL” Over the course of a weekend we will invite our audiences to see several performances that have never been produced before.
"Eurydice" reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice not through Orpheus's infamous pilgrimage to retrieve his bridge, but through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. With contemporary characters and plot twists, the play is a fresh look at a timeless love story.
We've got “magic to do'' in this is an “extraordinary” tale of a young man trying to find his “corner of the sky”. A young man who has to navigate his path through “war”, “simple joys'', and “glory”. Nominated for 11 Tony Awards when it originally premiered in 1973 and another 10 when it was revived in 2013. “Join us” for Stephen Schwart’s and Bob Fosse's Broadway smash hit “PIPPIN”. This vaudevillian and extravagant production is sure to “spread a little sunshine”. It will be coming your way in “just no time at all”.
